What Teams Are Saying

SR

Sarina Rahmat

Operations Coordinator, Shah Alam

I joined the Payroll Basics Course not really knowing what to expect — we were processing payroll but I wasn't confident we were doing it in a logical order. The course gave me a framework I could actually follow. The checklist alone saved me at least two hours of confusion at month-end. Solid, plain-language content throughout.

Payroll Basics Course — June 2025

Wong Li Shan

Business Owner, Petaling Jaya

We put two of our team through the Workshop — my admin lead and myself. By session three we had already identified three things we were doing inconsistently each month. The facilitator was patient and the exercises were genuinely practical. We came away with a checklist that we've now laminated and stuck on the wall. Worth every ringgit.

Payroll Operations Workshop — May 2025

Muhammad Faiz

Finance Admin, Johor Bahru

Good course for someone starting from scratch. The terminology module was particularly helpful — I'd been using some terms interchangeably and didn't realise the distinction until it was laid out clearly. I would have liked a bit more on variable pay scenarios, but the overall structure is logical and easy to follow at your own pace.

SME Owner, Ipoh

I enrolled the whole finance operations team — three of us — in the 12-week program. It was the most structured learning experience we've had as a team. The template toolkit is something we use every single month now. The facilitator check-ins were genuinely useful, not just a box-tick. Our accountant noticed the difference in our next submission — she said our records were much cleaner than before.

Finance Operations Program — March–June 2025

Ahmad Zulkifli

HR Admin, Kuala Lumpur

I've been handling payroll for our team for two years but nobody ever sat me down and explained the process properly — I just picked it up from whoever came before me. The workshop was the first time I understood why we do certain steps in a particular order. The small group size meant I could ask questions without feeling like I was holding anyone up. Thoroughly recommend it.

Payroll Operations Workshop — April 2025

Office Manager, Subang Jaya

The Finance Operations Program was a significant commitment but a worthwhile one. I appreciated that Payloom is clear about what the program is — educational support, not accounting or legal advice. That honesty actually made it easier to trust the content. The peer community has also been useful for the occasional sanity-check with others in similar roles.

Case Studies

Teams That Made the Change

Case Study 01

Retail SME, Klang Valley

6-person team, 3 participants in Workshop

The Situation

Payroll was handled by the owner's spouse using a system built over five years. When she went on leave, no one else could run it. The business was exposed every time she was unavailable.

What They Did

Three team members attended the Workshop together. They mapped the existing process during sessions, identified steps that only one person understood, and built a documented checklist that all three could follow.

The Outcome

Payroll was successfully processed by a second team member the following month while the primary handler was unavailable. The owner reported that month-end was handled without any calls to the absent colleague.

Case Study 02

F&B Operator, Penang

12-person team, owner + admin in Program

The Situation

The business owner was spending three to four hours each month rebuilding the payroll from memory. Records were kept in separate places and reconciliation with the bank statement was consistently incomplete by the time the accountant asked for it.

What They Did

Owner and admin coordinator enrolled in the 12-week Finance Operations Program together. They rebuilt their record system using the template toolkit during the program, with facilitator input on adapting templates to their variable-hour pay structure.

The Outcome

Monthly payroll processing time reduced significantly. Records were consistently ready for the accountant by the agreed date, and reconciliation errors dropped. The owner described the outcome as moving from reactive to routine.

Case Study 03

Professional Services, KL

8-person team, 2 admin staff in Workshop

The Situation

The business had recently grown from four to eight staff. Payroll was still being done the way it had always been done, but the added complexity of two pay structures and a new part-time arrangement was creating confusion each month.

What They Did

Two admin staff joined a Workshop cohort. During session two they mapped their own payroll cycle and identified where the two pay structures were creating ambiguity. The facilitator worked through the documentation approach with them during the Q&A session.

The Outcome

The team separated the two pay structures into distinct monthly processes with their own checklists. Both staff members can now handle either structure independently. The business director noted that payroll-related queries to him dropped noticeably in the months after the workshop.
